Pan Lynx is a musical and visual art project by Michal Skořepa (formerly of Stroy) and his illustrated alter-ego – the mystical Pan Lynx. Pan Lynx is half lynx and half human, Michal. After appearing to Michal, he dragged him into the depths of his own imaginary inner forest to create the debut album about self-discovery titled "He Who is Afraid, Must Go into the Forest".
On the album, Michal handled practically all instruments and vocals himself, with assistance from guests including such renowned names as Michael Kocáb, Michal Pavlíček, the Homola brothers from Wohnout, and Štěpán Smetáček. Musically, the project is a grandiose combination of dirty grunge guitars, decadent piano, and expressive, almost musical-theater-style vocals. Listeners can hear references to bands like Pražský Výběr, Queen, and Alice In Chains. The following year, the album earned Pan Lynx a nomination at the Anděl Awards, Album of the Year at the Břitva Awards, and Newcomer of the Year at the Žebřík Awards.
The live lineup consists of top-tier musicians: Jan Lichtenberg (guitar), Josh Root (guitar), Filip Vavřička (keyboards), Zdeněk Imramovský (bass), and Luboš Samek (drums). In less than two years of existence, the band has already played at Rock For People, Basinfirefest, Brutal Assault, and several other major festivals. The release of the second album, titled “The Other Side of the Forest”, is scheduled for the fall of 2025.
